Research description:

For users, linked data repositories often appear to be black boxes due to the great volume, thematic heterogeneity, complexity and interconnectivity of the stored data. Consequently, if there is a goal to find suitable data that can be reused in combination with other data in a user’s application, the user needs assistance in performing exploration of the repository content. This work aims to provide software-based solutions for the exploratory search of spatiotemporal Linked Data repositories along semantic dimensions of space, time and theme that will aid users in handling the data content to support the meaningful semantic connection of resources without confronting the users with underlying technologies and query languages. The work is based on 3 use cases.

Personal info:

Cartography and geodesy were my passions since childhood. Both my father and grandfather were land surveyors. I learned the basics of topography and map design by watching my father at work and often helping him in the field as a rodman. This was a reason to attend a specialist degree in cartography and GIS at Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) Faculty of Geography. I continued my education by completing the master programme in Geographical Information Management and Application (GIMA) in the Netherlands.
GIMA motivated me to pursue a career in academia. My interest lies in the field of geospatial semantic technologies. My research aims to answer how to assist users in understanding vast volumes of spatiotemporal linked data including both user-generated content and authoritative data. This requires intensive exploratory querying and visualization of big portions of graph-based linked data.
Besides cartography, I am keen on motorcycling and skiing.
